I have been working with the magic of the desert long before I knew there even was such a thing.
The desert and I have a history. A history which has recently been reconciled through a journey of shadow work, soul wealth acceleration, and the willingness to completely shut down a whole bunch of old timelines.
Staring out the window at the vast landscape I used to see nothing but death, colorless dried plant life, struggle, and discomfort.
Now I see and feel all the beauty that sprouts from the desert. I also recognize the magic, the pioneering, and the ancient wisdom and medicine it has to share. I have unknowingly been collecting much of that wisdom, medicine, and magic along my travels and time here in the desert. I have a lot of Desert Magic to share in this series of #WaywardAdventures.
Looking for inspiration for how to kick off the Desert Magic Series, I felt called to pull cards from the Sedona Deck originally created by a local artist back in ’99.
Below is a beautiful message the Desert has to share with us all.
So much of it is in perfect time and confirmation of exactly where I am at in this Enchanted Journey.
(I also can’t help but notice the #numerology #synchronicity that the numbered cards add up to 22. This is a number that comes up when we are planning retreats and travel- especially when traveling to Sedona!)
BLANK;
This card is to allow for the unknown and unseen energies that may not be obvious in our everyday lives, yet still have an effect on us.
Be aware that we rarely get the whole picture at one time.
This card tells you to expect the unknown, the unseen, or the unexpected.
This message arrives at the perfect time.
Liminal Space, the Unknown, “Only needing our next aligned action step”, and releasing control of an outcome or experience are all areas of focus in both my personal journey, and are topics we have been working on within our community, mastermind groups, and courses.
It can be so tough to make a step forward when we don’t have the full picture. However, when we can step into that alignment, we leave so much room for real magic to take place. Beyond what our logic or human side will comprehend. It is something we each much experience ourselves to fully understand it’s true power.
I am on a journey of learning to get comfortable with the liminal space. A quest to learnt how to tune into the wisdom of the blank energy and recognize the magic of possibility within it.
Journal Prompts:
Where are you trying to control an experience, outcome, or process?
If there truly is magic within liminal/blank space, where in your life could you sit in that space to allow for that magic to come in?
KEY WORDS: Blank --> Space -->Liminal Space --> The Unknown
COYOTE;
Coyote is never too far away…just waiting to share a howl or two with a willing friend. Sometimes its necessary to go within for the balance between worlds.
Is it folly or wisdom to have a good howl at the moon? Sometimes we call this “crazy wisdom”…
Occasionally the best wisdom is simply allow yourself some space to get a little “crazy” to help let the answers flow in…
What a beautiful follow up to the message of the Blank card.
Think about it.
When you sit in empty space with no shadow need to fill that space right back up again- that can feel like a really crazy place to be.
This is not something many of us allow ourselves to do.
Think of when you’ve had a break up. Or an emotional experience. Or lost something important to you like a job you enjoyed.
What did you do to cope during that time? Did you fill up that space as quickly as you could? Work really hard to get answers or feel the need to immediately figure the next best thing out?
What about when we start setting boundaries for ourselves and others? We all know that can be uncomfortable and make us feel a litte crazy at first.
Or when we decide to start following our desires, and putting ourselves first? Or start leaning into our magic, intuition, or spirituality?
Not only can that make us feel personally uncomfortable, but the people in our lives who were really familiar with the old versions of us start to look at us like we are crazy also.
This card is asking us to sit in the energy of the blank space, to allow for the wisdom to come in.
SAGE;
This is desert’s bounty! Beautiful pungent sage- holding within its silvery leaves, all that the desert is…and all your hopes & dreams.
Now is the perfect time to send out your heart’s desires & prayers to the universe with sage’s sweet sacred smoke.
We now know that the liminal space is the perfect container to start getting intentional and clear. The natural next step is to discover what your next set of wishes and desires are. You’ve cleared some old timelines, old limitations, and old trajectories. Now what do we do? It feels so empty.
A common operating procedure is to fill up that space for the sake of filling it as we discusses in first two cards.
If we allow ourselves to hang out in that blank space, working with the medicine of Coyote, then the medicine of Sage comes in.
We start recognizing the energy signatures of what we truly desire, and because we are “blank” we can then do this without limitations, projections, or distortions.
This is the magic that comes from getting comfortable with liminal space.
Is it easy to sit in what appears to be empty space? No, it’s not. It’s definitely not. A journey I myself am going through, and I can confirm it is not easy. Liminal space very much feels like boredom or inactivity to me. But I am committed to finding the magic that I have never allowed in previously. I am learning to define what boredom even is, where it came from, what projections and expectations are attached to it.
It’s much easier to fill back up, and there are thousands of things at the tips of our fingers, keyboards, and remote controls that can help us do just that in a matter of seconds.
But when we do this, when we seek to fill back up without intention or attention, we miss the alignment. We miss the space where soul desires begin to manifest. We miss the magic. We miss the unlimited possibility.
JAVELINA;
Choice.
The Collared Peccary, our own wild ‘pig’ is often quite destructive in its constant search for food. (Working with the previous cards this symbolizes our constant seeking to fill up space). Usually quiet, they can also be noisy and aggressive. Sometimes life can sneak up on you or suddenly whack you on the head. You are always able to determine the effect by your perspective.
It is always your choice how to view things. You can approach from either a ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ point of view.
Journal Prompts:
How do you view liminal space? What is your perspective when you don’t know what’s next?
Do you get uncomfortable and seek to find what is missing/wrong?
Or do you recognize you are on a journey of enchantment?
The Magic of the Desert wants to remind us that when all seems dormant, dried up, and lifeless- that magic is actually happening underneath the surface, waiting to come up at just the right time, and knowing when that time is.
The desert has a lot of healing, medicine, inner knowing, magic, and unexpected abundance to share, and I am just feeling blessed that it has chosen me to pass some of that magic along.
